Orbetello is a 2003, 16.2-hand Oldenburg Stallion
Orlando x Landgraf I / Cor de la Bryère
Bred by Georg Clausen, Germany
Owned by Hampton Farms, LLC
Standing at Bridlewood Farm, Union, Kentucky
Orbetello maintained top-level performance since the inception of his showjumping career. During his Oldenburg stallion licensing in Vechta, Germany, he scored the highest free-jumping score to date.
Cynthia Hampton, Hampton Farms, LLC, purchased Orbetello as an 8-year-old from Margie Engle (USA). Orbetello distinguished himself as the WEF circuit Champion in this critical division, winning nearly every qualifier with Engle. Immediately after the circuit, he placed well in his first 1m45 Grand Prix. Orbetello was then shown in amateur jumper classes by Hampton. Realizing his potential, Hampton shifted his training by allowing him to prove himself under three different international riders; Federico Sztyrle who had ridden on the Argentine team, Brianne Goutal who had successfully competed at the Grand Prix level in North America and Europe, and Paul O’Shea (IRL), a noted talent for developing horses. Paul O’Shea is a member of the Irish Team and has competed in Nations Cups, 5* Grand Prix in the US and Europe. Paul was slated for the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo with his mount Manchu Picchu. Orbetello’s superior performances under different riders during his highly successful career speak well of his willing temperament and exemplary rideability.
Orbetello competed with top-level performances in the 1m50 and 1m60 Grand Prix. His career was also guided by noted rider/trainer Napinday’s Federio Sztyrle (CSIO for Argentina, 2004). He finished 3rd in the $10K Hagyard Welcome at the KHJA show in August, 2012.
Orbetello placed 2nd in the very difficult Rood & Riddle Welcome Prix, designed by Steve Stephens, during week one of the 2014 Kentucky Summer Shows. During the 2014 Winter Equestrian Festival, Orbetello finished 2nd & 3rd in 1.40M classes in WEF 12 and 9th in the ESP Spring 3 Nutrena Grand Prix in Wellington.
At Spruce Meadows in 2015, Orbetello placed 3rd in the Husky 1m50 class on May 11th in his new partnership with rider Brianne Goutal. In an exemplary round just .68 seconds off the winning score, the couple set a demonstration of jumping style at its best!
